Which Type of HDMI to Choose for Connecting Various Devices?
You can buy any type of HDMI cable to transmit signals to a TV with a screen resolution of HD Ready and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. They have sufficient bandwidth. For frequencies higher than 120 Hz, version 1.2 or higher is required. For televisions with Full HD resolution, the image is transmitted in a similar way, but for resolutions of 120 Hz and higher, a standard of 1.3 or higher is required.
For 2K resolution picture transmission, cable versions 1.3 (30 Hz), 1.4 (60 and 75 Hz), and 2.0 (120 Hz and above) are required. The popular 4K standard requires 2.0 cables (60 Hz). Ultra HD images at 75 Hz and above can only be transmitted via 2.1 cables. The same requirement applies to 5K images.
There are no special cable requirements for connecting a TV to a computer. The main thing is that the computer graphics card should support the resolution of the TV screen. Some graphics cards do not have this capability.
When connecting the TV to a smartphone, e.g., to view photos on a large screen, a cable with a different connector is required. TVs have standard A-type sockets, and cell phones have C-type or other connectors. If such a cable is not available, an adapter is required.
